#1 Blog : Hello UNDERWORLD!

Hey there! It’s been a while since the website is up. I’ve been working really hard on Impious all this time, doing a major and much-needed refactor.

This feeling of non-existence or not demonstrating that I’m advancing in the project is there ticking in the back of my head if I’m not posting on Twitter or doing YouTube videos. So I’ve considered that it would be positive for myself to just use this blog as a way to express myself and show parts of the development without following the algorithm guidelines that rule the world nowadays.

I love to make videos, I always have loved it, but making this kind of content, like devlogs, is quite complicated. It’s quite difficult to showcase all the work behind what you see, and even more when you treat those videos in a didactic way. Also, let’s be honest, those sorts of videos can turn sloppy and boring in this world full of stimuli and an abnormal speed of content consumption.

Even many times, the mere fact of making videos (although I haven’t done many) dictates the development of the project itself.

“Oh, I’m gonna make this also for the video… Wait, if I don’t fix this or include this, it would look bad in the video, what will the viewers think?”

That led me to advance on some areas of the development that weren’t necessary at these first stages, contradicting the logic of a complex project made by a single developer. But certainly not in vain, as I could define and think beforehand about some aspects of art and concept that, in the end, will affect the gameplay, and I wouldn’t have noticed otherwise.

I’ll keep doing videos, but from another perspective, more straight to the point, not that technical, and I could leave the more technical stuff here.

So from now on, if I want to write about whatever thing, any Godot trick, technique, or solution to certain problems, I will post it here, without that amount of hours that a video blog requires and 100% free of algorithms and guidelines, just whatever I want. Hence, if there is someone out there reading this, cool! And if someone finds something interesting, way cooler it is! Then I’d reference all these articles in my video blogs, of course.
